Halifax, Nova Scotia
Today
we depart
Minneapolis
for our flight to Halifax, Nova Scotia. Upon
arrival we will check into our hotel for a two night stay. Our
lovely hotel is ideally located in the downtown core.
Saturday,
July 10
Halifax, Nova Scotia
This morning we enjoy a Gray Line Deluxe Historic Halifax City
Tour. The afternoon is free to further explore this delightful
seaside city. This evening we meet our fellow travelers at a
welcome reception.
Sunday,
July 11
Digby, Nova Scotia
Today we discover the rustic charm of the famous fishing village
of Peggy’s Cove. Next, we visit the UNESCO World Heritage Town
of Lunenburg where you will have a choice of admission to the
Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic or a walking tour of this
historic community. We then travel across country to Digby,
well known for the Bay of Fundy, home to the world’s highest
tides, where we will overnight.

Monday, July 12
Moncton, New Brunswick
Today’s journey takes us through the lush Annapolis Valley
and on to Grand Pre where fact and fiction blend to reveal the
romance of the Land of Evangeline. We continue past the
communities of Truro and Amherst as we cross into New Brunswick,
spending the night in the bilingual city of Moncton.

Tuesday, July 13
Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island
After breakfast our guided tour continues to Hopewell Rocks
where we may walk on the ocean floor at low tide. After lunch on
your own, we cross to Prince Edward Island on the Confederation
Bridge, the world’s longest continuous multi-span bridge. Early
this evening we enjoy a delicious lobster dinner before checking
into our hotel in Charlottetown, the provincial capital of
Prince Edward Island, and our home for the next two nights.

Wednesday,
July 14
Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island
Enjoy a free morning after breakfast. Our afternoon begins with
a tour of Charlottetown, Canada’s Birthplace. We then visit the
red sandstone cliffs, white beaches, gently sloping sand dunes
and green fields of Prince Edward Island National Park. Lucy
Maud Montgomery describes the scenery in her “Anne of Green
Gables” books. Visit the home of “Green Gables, a Mecca for
people from around the globe, before returning to our hotel.

Thursday,
July 15
Baddeck, Nova Scotia
After breakfast we take the ferry to Nova Scotia and then
proceed to Cape Breton Island - “the Scotland of North
America.” We visit the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic
Site in Baddeck to marvel at the many accomplishments of this
remarkable genius. We will spend two nights at a charming
lakeside resort in the heart of Baddeck.

Friday, July 16
Baddeck, Nova Scotia
Today we’ll experience one of the prettiest drives in North
America, the Cabot Trail and later enjoy a whale watching
cruise, weather permitting. We visit Cape Breton Highlands
National Park, as we wind along this ribbon of highway, where
the mountains meet the sea. The vistas abound as we travel over
the flat-topped mountains. Tonight we will enjoy our Farewell
Dinner.

Saturday, July 17
Halifax, Nova Scotia
We visit the Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic. This
reconstruction recreates one-fifth of the town of 1744 - built
as a tribute to New France. Roam the streets, talking with some
of the costumed guides who remain in character, or sample
sustenance of the era. Our tour continues along the shores of
Bras d’Or to the mainland. Our last night is at a hotel in
downtown Halifax.

Home
We fly home from Halifax to Minneapolis.
