Friday, October 8

Today we depart Minneapolis for our flight to Phoenix.  Upon arrival we are transferred to our hotel for our overnight in Phoenix.  This evening is at leisure.

 

Saturday, October 9

San Carlos, Mexico

This morning we depart Phoenix via motor coach and cross the boarder into Mexico at Nogales and arrive at Santa Ana for lunch. After lunch we depart for Hermiosillo where we visit the Cathedral and then the Government Palace to view the famous murals depicting the history of Sonora. We arrive in San Carlos this evening and check into our lovely ocean front hotel.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.

 

Sunday, October 10
Alamos, Mexico
Featured today is a Sea of Cortes yacht excursion and ample time for shopping. Lunch will be at the hotel. Early this afternoon we will depart for Alamos. During this 3 hour drive you will travel through the agricultural heartland of Sonora and the cities of Obregon and Navojoa arriving to this historic city for dinner and a folkloric program. Lodging tonight is at the beautiful bed and breakfast, Casa de Los Tesoros and Casa Encantada.

Monday, October 11

El Fuerte, Mexico

After breakfast take a guided walking tour through the cobblestone streets, visiting some fabled mansions that have been restored to their original glory.  The city of Alamos has been declared a national historic landmark by the government. Lunch today is at the hotel along with a presentation of Mayo Indian culture. Depart to El Fuerte arriving at Hotel Posada del Hidalgo by early afternoon. Dinner and entertainment tonight is at the hotel.

Tuesday, October 12
Posada Barrancas, Mexico

Early this morning we transfer to the train station, boarding at 7:30 am for the most speactular train ride in North America, arriving at Posada Barrancas by mid afternoon. Your hotel for the next two nights is the Mansion Tarahumara.                                                                                                            Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.

 

Wednesday, October 13

Posada Barrancas, Mexico

Today we have time to view and interpret Tarahumara Indian arts and crafts, visit the rim of the canyon and enjoy the surroundings.  There is time today for optional actives: hiking, horseback riding, or maybe sightseeing by helicopter.   
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.

 

Thursday, October 14
Casa Grandes, Mexico

After breakfast we transfer to Creel via Oteros Canyon. After lunch in Guerrero, we descend from the mountains onto the Chilhuahuan Desert and the city of Nuevo Casa Grandes. Tonight we have a farewell dinner.

Friday, October 15

Phoenix, Arizona

Before leaving Nuevo Casa Grandes, we visit Mexico’s northern archeological site at Pacquime where the ancient Grand Chichimeca civilization erected their truncated pyramids and adobe multistory apartments. We travel trough the plains and cattle country of Chihuahua before reentering the USA at Douglas, Arizona. We continue to Phoenix for our last overnight of our Copper Canyon vacation.    
 Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.

 

Saturday, October 16

Home

This morning we say goodbye to Arizona.  We board our coach for our transfer to the airport and our return flight home.  Memories of this vacation will be with you a long time.
Breakfast is included.

Cancellation Policy:  If cancellation notice is received, in writing, by the following days, the appropriate penalty will apply:

59-31 days prior to departure:$300 per person

30-15 days prior to departure:$500 per person

14 days or less: no refund
