gateway to the Door County Peninsula.
Lunch is included.
Friday, September 11
Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin
Our Door County adventure begins as we motor to the Northport
Pier to board the ferry to Washington Island. Our local guide
explains the history of the outlying islands as we cross
“Death’s Door”, the passageway between the mainland and
Washington Island. Upon arrival we visit historic West Harbor
where we learn about the Niagara escarpment. The peace and
tranquility of the island comes alive as we see the beautiful
beaches and summer cottages. An included lunch is served
Scandinavian style today. This afternoon we stop at “den Norske
Grenda” where we see sod roof Norwegian buildings and the goats
roaming the countryside. Later, we ferry back to the mainland
and tonight we enjoy an authentic Fishboil Dinner cooked
outdoors.
Continental breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.
Saturday, September 12
Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin
This morning we travel along the Green Bay shoreline to Egg
Harbor before crossing to visit the Bjorklunden Stave Chapel.
This chapel is filled with 41 Fresco paintings and beautiful
wood carvings. We’ll make stops in the quaint fishing villages
with names like Sister Bay and Fish Creek. Cherries are a main
crop in Door County and we sample some of the many cherry
goodies …cheese, dried cherries, strudel and wine. Before
returning to our hotel, we visit the Eagle Bluff Lighthouse that
was operational in the 1800s. Tonight a delicious dinner is in
store for us.
Continental breakfast and dinner are included.
