Monday, October 5
Peoria, Illinois
We board our motor coach to begin a delightful journey through
the pages of America’s exciting early history. Our first day’s
drive takes us to Peoria.
Lunch is included.
Tuesday, October 6
Columbus, Ohio
Our journey eastward continues through Indiana and Ohio. It is a
pleasant drive filled with autumn color as we make our way to
our hotel in Columbus.
Continental breakfast and lunch are included.
Wednesday, October 7
Gettysburg, Pennsylvania
Today we motor through the rolling Pennsylvania countryside. We
arrive at Gettysburg, site of the bloodiest battle in American
history and inspiration for the immortal words of Abraham
Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address. A special dinner at the historic
Dobbin House Restaurant, built in 1776, awaits us.
Continental breakfast and dinner are included.
Thursday, October 8
Washington, DC
This morning we will visit the “Battle of Gettysburg” cyclorama,
a 360-degree painting of three days of this famous battle. We
then are guided through the battlefield where over 1,000
monuments and shrines stand tribute to those who fell there. We
arrive in Washington, DC, visiting Arlington National Cemetery,
seeing the Kennedy Gravesites and the Tomb of the Unknowns.
Continental breakfast is included.
Friday, October 9
Washington, DC
The entire day will be devoted to exploring at our own pace the
many intriguing displays of the Smithsonian Institution. It is
comprised of 14 museums and boasts a wealth of exhibits from all
facets of history, technology and art. We enjoy dinner this
evening before taking an illuminated driving tour making stops
at the FDR Memorial, National World War II Memorial and the
Kennedy Center for Performing Arts. Continental breakfast and
dinner are included.
Saturday, October 10
Washington, DC
Our nation’s capital comes alive today as we take a guided tour
of the city seeing the White House, Washington Monument, Lincoln
and Jefferson Memorials, Vietnam and Korean Memorials and more.
We take a narrative tour of the US Capitol and then visit the
Library of Congress. We end the day visiting National Cathedral,
a spiritual center for Americans to unite.

Sunday, October 11
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Our tour of Philadelphia, the birthplace of American freedom and
liberty, includes Independence Hall where the Declaration of
Independence was signed and the Constitution of the United
States was written. See the Liberty Bell, Betsy Ross home, and
Christ Church where seven signers of the Declaration of
Independence are buried. We’ll also see Ben Franklin’s grave and
memorial.
Continental breakfast and lunch is included.
Monday, October 12
New York, New York
We leave Philadelphia this morning bound for the “Big Apple”
(New York City), the financial and business nerve of the United
States. We’re off this morning as our local guide shows us the
city we’ve all heard so much about. We see Madison Square
Garden, the Empire State Building, Lincoln Center and Central
Park. We visit Ground Zero and pay our respects to those heroes
from that fatal day, September 11th.
Continental breakfast is included.
Tuesday, October 13
New York, New York
This morning we board the ferry to see the Statute of Liberty
and then to Ellis Island. Here we’ll relive the experience of so
many immigrants who have entered our country. We have some free
time this afternoon to attend a matinee before leaving for
dinner and our evening performance of a Broadway Show (TBA).

Wednesday, October 14
Youngstown, Ohio
We say good bye to the Big Apple and head west through the state
of Pennsylvania enjoying the beautiful fall colors as we travel
into Ohio. We spend the night near Youngstown.

Thursday, October 15
Schaumburg, Illinois
We continue through Ohio and into Indiana, the “crossroads of
the nation” before arriving at our overnight destination of
Schaumburg, Illinois.
Continental breakfast is included.
Friday, October 16
Home
We continue homeward stopping in Wisconsin for some of that
delicious cheese and enjoying lunch. Later in the day we arrive
home with many memories of our visit to the Historic East.

days, the appropriate penalty will apply:
59-31 days prior to departure: $100 plus any non-refundable
deposits.
30-15 days prior to departure: 50% of tour cost
14 days or less: no refund
