We arrive in Rome this afternoon and are met by our International Vacation Director and are transferred to the Aran Park Hotel. This evening dinner a Get-Acquainted-Dinner is included at the hotel with the rest of the evening is at leisure.

After breakfast this morning we will have a full morning visiting the three out of the four Basilicas in Rome: St. Mary Major, St. John Lateran, which is the Cathedral of the Holy Father, and St. Paul’s Outside the Walls, where Mass will be celebrated. Following an included lunch the afternoon is free to explore the city on your own.

This morning we have an early morning departure for St. Peter’s for Mass. Following Mass we will return to the hotel for breakfast. Today is free for those wishing to explore the “Eternal City” on their own or for those interested in going to Assisi, a full day trip is being offered. Reservations for the Assisi day trip must be made and paid for in advance with the final payment

Today is the highlight of our Pilgrimage. At the Papal Mass, Archbishop John C. Nienstedt will be bestowed with the Pallium, a stole woven from the wool of two lambs that have been blessed by the Holy Father. Previously, Pope Benedict XVI blessed the Palliums before placing them in a 350-year-old silver chest overnight under the main altar at St. Peter’s Basilica. Today is the only time the archbishops will wear the Palliums jointly. Once bestowed, liturgical rules require that the Pallium be worn only in the metropolitans own see and then only during solemn liturgies like ordinations. This afternoon we will greet Archbishop Nienstedt at a reception hosted at the Pontifical North American College. Following the reception the rest of the day is at leisure.

Today we have a tour of the Vatican Museums, including the Map Room and the Sistine Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at noon followed by an included luncheon at a local restaurant near the Vatican. The day is free for you to enjoy Rome as you wish.

This morning we are transferred to the Leonardo da Vinci Airport for our return flight home, having participated in a once-in-a-life time spiritual experience.

*Because of the special nature of this trip the airline tickets must be issued by February 25. Once the tickets are issued the air fare is non-refundable. Space is limited and we suggest making your reservation early.
