Thursday, June 4

Portland, Oregon

Following an included breakfast we board our coach for our journey southward.  There is a midmorning stop at the famous Mount St. Helens Volcano Interpretive Center.  The Center features walk-through interpretive exhibits and award-winning theater programs to educate the visitor on the tale of events that lead to the 1980 eruption.  We continue to Portland, Oregon and will have a city tour before checking into our hotel, the Doubletree Hotel at Lloyd Center.  This evening is at leisure.                                          Breakfast is included.

Friday, June 5

Portland, Oregon

We continue our sightseeing today with a visit to the beautiful Columbia Gorge on the Columbia River, a favorite spot for all visitors to Oregon.  We will visit the Vista House on magnificent Crown Point and serves as the symbol of the Columbia River Gorge.  Built in 1916, and recently renovated, the octagonal building with its copper houses a museum, gift shop and interpretive display of historic and geologic points of interest in the Gorge.  Other impressive stops today include six hundred and twenty feet high Multnomah Falls, the Bonneville Dam Interpretive Center and the Timberline Lodge at 6,000 feet on Mount Hood, Oregon’s highest peak.  We return to Portland in the late afternoon.                                           Breakfast is included.

Saturday, June 6

Portland, Oregon

After breakfast, a highlight of the trip will be attending the Grand Floral Parade.  Second only to Pasadena, there are high stepping bands, flower covered floats and beautiful equestrienne units that pass by us in our reserved Coliseum seats.  The afternoon is free for you to enjoy the many free activities, and refresh before we board the Portland Spirit for a cruise and dinner on the Willamette River this evening.
Breakfast and dinner are included.

Sunday, June 7

Newport, Oregon

This morning is free to sleep in or attend a church service of your choice.  We’ll depart late morning to drive through the wine country, stop at the wonderful Evergreen Aviation Museum, home to the Spruce Goose and have a wine tasting in their own vineyards.  We arrive in Newport on the central coast to check into your hotel with an ocean view.                                                                                      Breakfast is included.

Monday, June 8

Coos Bay, Oregon

Our journey continues after breakfast, as we drive along the pristine Oregon coastline.  The State owns all of the beaches making sure we can stop wherever we wish to explore!  After we arrive in Florence, there is a ride in a sand buggy over the 300-foot high sand dunes with spectacular views of the sea.  We continue to Coos Bay where we stop at a myrtle wood factory for a brief tour.  Myrtlewood is only found in Oregon and Israel.  We check-in to our hotel in Coos Bay for our overnight.                                       Breakfast is included.

Tuesday, June 9

Eureka, California

We finish the drive along the Oregon coastline and enter the gigantic Redwoods in northern California.  These wonderful trees are just the beginning of the Redwood National Forests.  We arrive in Eureka, California and have a city tour of the special murals.  We check-in to our hotel and then prepare for a fun evening at the Samoa Cookhouse.  This former logging camp and museum will serve us a family style hearty dinner.
Breakfast and dinner are included.
