Tiberius, Israel

Following breakfast this morning we make our way to Caesarea, the ancient port built by King Herod the Great. Here St. Peter preached to Cornelius, who became the first gentile convert. We’ll drive north along the Mediterranean Sea to Haifa to visit the cave of the prophet Elijah at the foot of Mount Carmel. We then continue to Nazareth to visit the Church of the Annunciation where mass will be celebrated. Before ending our day in Tiberius we will visit the church commemorating the first miracle of Jesus in Cana.

Thursday, March 11
Tiberius, Israel

We begin our day with a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee. Next we will visit Capernaum, which was the hometown of St. Peter. Jesus also made it His second native city. Here we’ll see the home of St. Peter’s mother-in-law and the ancient 2nd-century synagogue. We continue to Tabgha, the chapel dedicated to the multiplication of the loaves and fishes. The Mount of the Beatitudes concludes our day before arriving back at our hotel.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.

Friday, March 12
Jerusalem, Israel

We depart Tiberius and arrive at Mt. Tabor where mass will be celebrated. We continue through the Jordan Valley, where Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist and a voice from heaven declared “This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased.” We also visit Bethany, the city where Mary, Martha and Lazarus lived. While here, we’ll visit the site of the tomb of Lazarus and then arrive at our hotel in Jerusalem where we will spend the next four nights.
Breakfast and dinner are included.

Saturday, March 13
Jerusalem, Israel

Our sightseeing begins with a panoramic view of Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives. We’ll visit the Chapel of the Ascension and the Church of Pater Noster. Mass will be celebrated at the Church of Dominus Flevit. Next we’ll walk along the Palm Sunday Road to the Garden of Gethsemane and then visit the Church of All Nations, which stands on the Rock of Agony. We’ll also visit the Tomb of the Virgin Mary and the traditional place of her Assumption. We’ll drive to Mount Zion and visit the church of St. Peter in Gallicantu, the House of Caiphas, “The High Priest”, and the dungeon where Jesus was imprisoned the night He was arrested. We’ll be taken to “The Upper Room”, site of the Last Supper and in the lower part of the chapel, see the Tomb of King David.
Breakfast and dinner are included.

Sunday, March 14
Jerusalem, Israel

A walking tour of the “Old City” of Jerusalem shows us many fascinating sights including the location that Abraham took Isaac to be sacrificed and the Pool of Bethesda where Christ healed the man who had been crippled for 38 years. Visit the Antonia Fortress, the traditional site of the flagellation and the condemnation. See the convent of the Sisters of Zion, which preserves the place of the King’s Game played by Roman soldiers as they mocked Jesus. Walk along the Via Dolorosa, the traditional pathway Jesus followed carrying His cross to Calvary. Finish the day at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, the most sacred place of Christianity. This is the place of the Crucifixion and the tomb where Jesus was laid.
Breakfast and dinner are included.

A morning drive takes us to Bethlehem to the church of the Nativity to visit the cave of the birthplace of Jesus. In the Shepherd’s field we’ll celebrate mass overlooking the hillsides where the “Good News” was heralded to the shepherds.
