Thursday,
April 8
Washington, DC
Today we board our flight in Minneapolis for Washington, DC.
Upon arrival we stop for lunch at the New
Capitol Visitors’ Center. Following lunch we will enjoy a tour
of the Capitol (pending availability) which has housed Congress
since 1800. We visit the Library of Congress and the Supreme
Court Building. We’ll stop at the National World War II Memorial
honoring the 16 million soldiers that served in the war along
with those who died and those who supported them from home.
We’ll also make stops at the Lincoln Memorial, the Viet Nam
Memorial and the Korean War Veterans Memorial before continuing
to dinner at the Rock Bottom Brewery. We then check in to our
comfortable hotel for a 4 night stay.

Friday, April 9
Washington, DC
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before departing for the Arlington
National Cemetery. This is the final resting place for President
John F. Kennedy, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, and thousands of
soldiers from every major U.S. war. Tour mobile tickets are
included for our visit. We then visit the Reagan
Building/International Trade Center for lunch on our own. Our
afternoon begins with a drive down Embassy Row before stopping
at the National Cathedral, a 14th Century-style
Gothic wonder situated on 57 acres that took 83 years to build.
We will also make a stop at the Air Force Memorial that
overlooks the Pentagon as well as the new 9/11 Memorial of the
Pentagon. Here 184 lives were lost in a single moment at the
Pentagon. Tonight we have a delicious dinner in Georgetown on
the waterfront. This evening we will enjoy an illuminated tour
of Washington, DC with stops at the Jefferson Memorial, The
Marine Corps War memorial (Iwo Jima Statue) and the FDR
Memorial.

Saturday, April 10
Washington, DC
After breakfast this morning, we depart for the
Cherry Blossom Parade. The Cherry Blossoms festival is the
largest public event of the festival and we have reserved seats
on the parade route. Enjoy the entertainment and floats in a
show honoring the original gift of 3,000 cherry trees by the
city of Tokyo. This afternoon you will have time to enjoy the
Smithsonian Institution and the many museums including the
National Air and Space Museum, the National Museum of American
History, National Museum of the American Indian and more.
Tonight we enjoy a delicious dinner at historic Union Station
before returning to our hotel.

Sunday, April 11
Washington, DC
Today we leave the city and travel south to Mt. Vernon, home
of our first President, George Washington. Here you will
discover the real George Washington with an action adventure
movie in the visitors’ center. You will also enjoy a tour of the
restored Mansion and its outbuildings as well as the spacious
grounds and gardens. Sit on the porch and enjoy a view of the
Potomac River. We have lunch today at the Mt. Vernon Inn before
leaving the estate and visiting the Christ Church dating from
1773 where George Washington and Robert E. Lee attended
services. Later this afternoon we stop at the Torpedo Factory
Artists Studio where you will view 82 artists’ studio and learn
about each of the art forms and perhaps purchase an original
work. Tonight we head to Old Town Alexandria, founded by
Scottish merchants in 1749. We enjoy dinner on our own this
evening in one of the many restaurants and cafes.

Monday, April 12
Home
We end our stay in Washington, DC with a visit the White
House Visitor’s Center which contains displays and exhibits of
the White House. Here you will have a chance to purchase White
House souvenirs. We’ll also be making a stop for a photo of the
White House. Late this morning we make a visit to the New
Newseum, the only interactive museum of news. Experience the
news as it happens on a 126 foot long, 10 ½ foot high Video News
Wall. There are so many facets of the news and you’ll see some
in action. Mid-afternoon, we board our return flight to
Minneapolis.

in writing, by the following days, the appropriate penalties
will apply:
59 - 31 days prior to departure: $200 plus any non-refundable
deposits.
30 - 15 days prior to departure:50% of tour cost plus any
non-refundable deposits.
14 days prior to departure or less: no refund
